'Dog Whisperer' Cesar Millan Says Goodbye to His Sidekick Daddy the Pit Bull

Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan’s trusty “right-hand-man” and partner in the healing of many troubled dog-owner relationships, Daddy the Pit Bull, passed away peacefully in the company of his family on Friday, February 19th. He was 16 years old.

Daddy wasn’t just a wonderful example of his much-maligned, misunderstood breed. He was--first and foremost--a service dog who helped rehabilitate hundreds of dogs by the force of his own balanced, loving temperament. He was a key element in the success of Cesar Millan’s Dog Psychology Center, and an inspiration to those of us who continue to strive for the best possible relationship with our own canine best friends.

Millan shared a recollection of Daddy on his home page:

"Often, in the morning, Daddy will let you know he’s awake by bringing you a gift: a shoe, a T-Shirt, or a stuffed toy. He’ll walk around with the item in his mouth, waiting for someone to notice. Then he lets you take it out of his mouth and walks away with his tail wagging."

To honor Daddy’s legacy, the DEAR (Daddy’s Emergency Animal Rescue) Fund has been created by the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation. The DEAR Fund will provide assistance for dogs who are victims of abuse or violence, man-made disasters, and large-scale natural disasters.
